About This Tour

We provide a private tour to you, taking you to scenic locations and vineyards that large tour buses do not.
Tours are fully inclusive with no added extra charges. They include morning refreshments, lunch, and all wine-tasting fees.
Complimentary Antipodes artesian mineral water, along with HEPA air conditioning, and if you wish your choice of music on Tesla's Spotify system on the way back to Wellington. Please note vineyards visited may vary as a result of their opening hours.

Itinerary

Stop at Kaitoke National Park - home to the Rivendell film
set from the Lord of the Rings movie. Take the 10 minute loop track walk ,over a swing bridge and under some ancient forest trees
trees up close. Walk over the swing bridge and enjoy the scenic view over the Pakuratahi River. Enjoy a short scenic walk to visit the location of theRivendell film set.

Stop at a local cafe and enjoy coffee/tea and scones.

Private Tasting, and possibly a tour of the cellar, at one of Martinborough's premier vineyards

Enjoy a 2 course lunch with a wine tasting tray at the Runholder.
Nestled between vineyard rows and the edge of the Martinborough Terrace, The Runholder is the home of Te Kairanga, Martinborough Vineyard and Lighthouse Gin.

A world search for the ideal area and with perfect conditions for viticulture, brought Kai Schubert and Marion Deimling from the German Viticulture and Oenology University in Geisenheim to Marinborough.
Schubert vineyards are closely planted and the unique climate produces low yields and internationally award winning wines with intense and complex characteristics that are exported to 25 countries.

Browse the boutique shops of Martinborough before we leave for Wellington. Travel time back to Wellington 1 hour and 15 mins

Driving back to Wellington, stop off at the Rimutaka Summit , a resting point for infantry during training between 1915-18.
A five minute walk provides great views across the Wellington region.
